FAQ’s About Grip & Electric
Grip & Electric Vehicle Rentals — Frequently Asked Questions
1. What’s the difference between a 1-Ton Grip Van and a 3-Ton Grip Truck?
A 1-Ton Van is perfect for smaller photo or video shoots, offering a compact setup with essential grip and electric gear. A 3-Ton Truck carries a larger inventory and supports bigger crews and productions that need more lighting power and rigging options.
2. What does “Grip & Electric” mean?
“Grip” refers to rigging, stands, clamps, and supports used to shape light. “Electric” refers to lighting units, power distribution, and cables used to control illumination on set.
3. Are the vans and trucks fully equipped?
Yes. Both 1-Ton and 3-Ton packages come fully equipped with lighting, stands, grip hardware, distribution, and expendables — ready to roll.
4. Can I rent the vehicle with or without a crew?
Yes. You can choose a rental-only package or an Onsite Crew Support Package that includes experienced grips and electrics to assist on set.
5. Do I need a special license to drive the 3-Ton truck?
Typically, no commercial license is required for standard 3-Ton production trucks, but a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance are needed.
6. Can I customize the equipment package inside the van or truck?
Absolutely. We can tailor the loadout based on your project — whether it’s photography, commercial, narrative film, or live event work.
7. What type of lighting gear is included?
Standard packages include a mix of LED panels, tungsten, HMI, and modifier kits with dimmers and diffusion to cover a range of setups.
8. Are power distribution and cabling included?
Yes. Each vehicle carries distro boxes, stingers, extension cables, and adapters for safe, efficient on-set power management.
9. Do you offer delivery and pickup?
Yes. We can deliver the vehicle or specific equipment directly to your set and pick it up after the shoot if needed.
10. How early should I reserve a grip truck or van?
We recommend booking at least one week in advance to ensure availability, especially during peak production months.
11. What kind of insurance do I need to rent?
You’ll need a Certificate of Insurance (COI) naming our company as loss payee and additional insured, covering rented equipment and vehicles.
12. Can I rent individual grip or electric items without a vehicle?
Yes. All gear can be rented à la carte — from stands and clamps to lights and cable — if you don’t require a vehicle.
13. Do you provide expendables like tape, gels, or bulbs?
Yes. Our vehicles include standard expendables, and we can restock specific items upon request.
14. What happens if equipment is damaged or lost?
Clients are responsible for all gear while in their possession. Damaged or missing items are billed at repair or replacement cost.
15. Are the vehicles climate-controlled or equipped for sensitive gear?
Yes. Both vans and trucks are climate-controlled and organized with shelving, racks, and tie-downs for safe transport.
16. Can I use my own lighting crew with your equipment?
Of course. Many clients rent our fully loaded vehicles but bring their own DP, gaffer, or key grip to operate the gear.
17. Do you provide generators or portable power options?
Yes. Portable generators and battery-powered lighting options are available for remote or off-grid locations.
18. How long can I keep the van or truck rental?
Rentals are available by the day, week, or long-term for extended productions. Multi-day discounts are available.
19. Is after-hours or weekend pickup available?
Yes. We can accommodate early call times or late returns with prior scheduling.
20. How do I request a quote or check availability?
You can call our production office or fill out our online rental request form. A representative will confirm gear lists, pricing, and availability.
